The Alchemist is born in 1977 in the upper neighborhood from Beverly Hills. This childhood gave him an uncommon copybook. He started to rap as Mudfoot with Evidence and mad Skills, aka Scott Caan, with whom he created the duo Whooliganz. They recorded a first album in 1993, called “Make way for the W”, with Tommy Boy Records. Unfortunately, this LP never went out. Nevertheless, Mudfoot didn’t lose his time, since he met DJ Muggs from Cypress Hill and DJ Lethal from House Of Pain. This is those meetings which convinced him to go behind the machine to become a beatmaker.

He then moved to New York City, with DJ Muggs for the making of “Soul Assassin Chapter 1”, where he met Mobb Deep and turned his name to The Alchemist. The collaboration between the Queens’ duet and The Alchemist built his fame.  While he carried on working with Cypress Hill and Dilated Peoples, he became at the turning point of the 2000’s one of the best American producer, working with Nas, Snoop Dogg, Ghostface Killah, Fat Joe or Jadakiss. In 2004, he released his long-awaited debut solo album called “1^st Infantry”.

Those last years, the man stayed still very productive, with a lot of different project. After having entirely produced Prodigy’s album “Return Of Mac” in 2007, he took part in the albums from Rick Ross and Reakwon, made the whole Fashawn’s mixtape called “The Antidote” in 2009, recorded an album named “Covert Group” with Curren$y in 2011, created the band Gangrene with Madlib’s brother Oh No, with whom he released the album “Gutter Water” in 2011 and “Vodka & Ayahusca” this year. He has today a lot of other projects on the desk, with Action Bronson, Kool G Rap, Freddie Gibbs and his long time friend Evidence. Last but not least, he is at a present time the official Eminem’s DJ.

The Alchemist est né en Californie en 1977. Issu du quartier confortable de Beverly Hills, son parcours est atypique.  Il commence à rapper à l’âge de 14 ans sous le nom de Mudfoot, avec Evidence (Dilated Peoples) et Mad Skills aka Scott Caan. Il bouge alors à New York, avec Muggs à l’occasion de la réalisation de « Soul Assassin chapter I », où il rencontre, entre autres, Mobb Deep et prend le nom de The Alchemist. S’en suivent une série de collaborations avec le duo du Queens qui feront sa renommée. Il continue aussi à travailler avec Cypress Hill, Dilated Peoples, et devient au tournant des années 2000 un des meilleurs producteurs américain. Il travaille alors avec les plus grands : Nas, Snoop Dogg, Ghostface Killah, Fat Joe ou Jadakiss. Après s’être fait longtemps attendre, il sort en 2004 sont premier album solo, « 1st Infantry »

Son activité ne fléchit pas ces dernières années, bien au contraire, puisqu’il regorge de projets : après avoir entièrement produit l’album de Prodigy « Return Of The Mac » en 2007, il participe aux album de Rick Ross et Reakwon, réalise entièrement la mixtape de Fashawn « The Andidote » en 2009, enregistre l’album « Covert Group » avec Curren$y, en 2011, forme le groupe Gangrene avec Oh No, le petit frère de Madlib et sort « Gutter Water » en 2011 et « Vodka & Ayahusca » cette année. Il a aussi de nombreuses collaborations à venir, avec Action Bronson, Kool G Rap, Freddie Gibbs, et son acolyte Evidence. Par ailleurs, c’est le DJ officiel d’Eminem, après la séparation de ce dernier avec DJ Green Lantern.
